LIVE LIFE FULLY

Nervously waiting in the car before the ceremony. Enjoying drinks with friends during cocktail hour. Dancing to the band and leaving it all on the dance floor... Those are the moments from my own wedding day that I'll remember forever.

I'm so grateful that I never felt pulled away, forced to do something, or be somewhere other than with the people I love most.

My experience helped me understand the importance of remaining fully present on your wedding day - without the presence of a camera distracting you for what's most important.

And it's why today I love being part of a wedding in which a couple hopes to live in the moment.

And experience everything fully.

Why I shoot Film

Film makes me uncomfortable for all the right reasons. Film says, trust that you’ve always had it in you… and that you’re confidence shouldn’t be tied to a digital viewfinder. It makes me slow down, think and appreciate every moment and see things in a whole new perspective. With every click of the shutter it feels so right, the sound is like magic being made and I know that I’m creating something timeless, it will never date. A piece of heirloom imagery for my couples.

WHAT'S MOST IMPORTANT

If I could travel forever, experiencing every culture and living life completely, I would.

My travel and cultural experiences heavily influence the way I photograph. And help me create a better experience, and images, for you.

Here's a little insight as to how I can help make your wedding day, and all the days leading up to it, even better.

TRAVEL | EXPERIENCE | LIFE

MORE THAN A PHOTOGRAPHER

No one is ever just one thing.

Take you, for example. You're more than a bride or groom, you're also a daughter or son. A friend. An adventurer. And, perhaps, a lover of great food and delicious cocktails (like me!)

It's the same way I'm more than a photographer. I'm a wife, mother, friend and adventurous spirit. And someone who is extremely positive, super organised, and naturally helpful.

And is the reason I provide you more than just timeless images, but an experience. One that begins before your wedding day, and continues after.

Prior to your wedding day, I'll communicate with you constantly to find out all the ways I can help. Like, recommending vendors I know and trust. Creating a timeline to make sure we capture you during the most beautiful time of day that results in dream-like, romantic images. And taking on as much creative control as you'll allow me.

On wedding day, I often feel like another member of your wedding party, taking it upon myself to do anything that will help make you feel more relaxed. And avoiding any uncertainty or potentially awkward moments by telling you what's happening so that you know what to do and where to be.

"After reaching out to her, Sheri made me feel so comfortable, like someone I’d known for ages, and definitely someone I’d be happy to have with me on our wedding day - that was the decider. And she has consistently been there throughout the planning process which I’ve appreciated so much!"

- Steph

"Sheri's light, elegant style of photos were exactly how we wanted to remember our day."

SLOW DOWN & SIP A COCKTAIL

I am obsessed with film and fine art photography. Not only because it creates that beautiful, bright and airy look but because it also forces us to slow down. In a good way.

Because every roll of film has 16 opportunities, each photo must be taken with purpose, intention, and an eye for detail. It provides you the opportunity to really take it all in, pushes me to get it right the very first time, and for both of us to be fully present and in the moment.

It allows you time to get back to celebrating with family and friends. With natural, elegant and intimate photos.

"Sheri was wonderful! We had a lot of curve balls thrown at us the morning of, torrential rain being one of them! Somehow.. with her connections, she manifested not only sun for our bridal photos but never once made us feel anything but relaxed and in good hands. She has a kindness about her, so very personable and just calming to be around which is exactly what you want and need from your photographer on your wedding day. Just perfect! and people don't realise you spend your entire wedding day with your photographer; how they make you feel matters. We wouldn't have picked anyone else - and that's coming from a wedding photographer herself!!

ADAPT TO THE SITUATION

There's a balance in knowing the right time to be discreet and when to be in control. Just as there's a right time to be professional and a time to be laid back.

I like to be all of these things. After all, I'm a naturally bubbly person who believes positive vibes and auras are infectious.

And at the same time, I've learned that not every situation needs that vibe. In fact, over my 8-years photographing couples, I've learned to read people and the situation when I walk into a room. And adjust my actions to be more reserved, take control, or perhaps, more conversational and chatty - Whatever's most appropriate.

However it is I need to adapt, my intention is to make the atmosphere feel most comfortable.

EXPLORE THE WORLD & HAVE A PLAN

My love of traveling to new places, learning about new cultures, and experiencing life is a large reason why I also focus on weddings outside of Australia, and in places like Thailand and New Zealand (and beyond.) And it's how I've come to learn to always have a plan and never leave anything to chance.

Whenever I travel for a wedding or session, I plan to arrive up to 2-days prior to your wedding to recover from the drive or jet lag. And to scope out the best places for lighting throughout your day or weekend.

I'll always be at the top of my game, no matter where your wedding takes you.

"Choosing a destination photographer is challenging! I didn't want our photos to be
like every other "Hawaii Elopement". That is when I stumbled upon Sheri's page and wow, Sheri has the WOW factor! The attention to detail, the timeless and soft edits made to the photos just captures the beauty! It also shows how much pride she take in her work to go the extra mile."

like every other tropical Elopement.

HOW I CAME TO BE A PHOTOGRAPHER

I never thought I'd be a wedding photographer. But being a part of something so fun and so happy, where everyone is excited and there's lots of positive energy... Well, it's something I'm easily able to pour my heart and soul into.

So, having first discovered photography in high school, and again after having my first child, I bought a camera and began with newborn photography. Then, I was asked to photograph a friend's wedding.
And it was amazing!

WHY WEDDINGS

The first few years of my wedding photography career wasn't all sunshines and rainbows. I really struggled to find my style. Until one day, I came across a film photographer and fell so in love with his work.

I took the time to really learn all there was about film photography. I trained and sought out a mentor to teach me how to do it correctly.

Now, I photograph every wedding using film. And mentor other photographers on how to hone their craft using film.

I wouldn't be where I am today without it.
